Who was the guy with the guncam in his helmet on the allied team ?

That was Dog and his 'Dog-Cam'!

Back home and aching all over from carrying kit miles and general airsofting.

Overall, I'd give the event 7/10.

+ Lots of effort involved from Gunman and crew, especially the pyros and the guns and the organisation. Thanks to all the marshalls who were there too. Good plot ideas, always moving on...

- ...but the day did seem to be slave to the plot. A lot of stopping and starting and regrouping and trekking, to follow the plot. Not as much actual skirmishing as I would have liked. This morning was due to start at 0800 and finish at 1200. It started at 0900 and inexplicably finished at 1100, with no warning - was that because the Allies had just retaken the fort? :? Who knows? No explanation was given. Also don't understand why there were players dressed in Axis-style gear with Axis weapons playing for the Allies, who had at least 20 more players?? :?

My biggest gripe was the complete isolation of both camps - you had a great toilet/shower block by the safe zone, and a covered block with tables and chairs, which would have made a fantastic place for the evening's socialising - instead, both camps were 5 minutes away from this area, in opposite directions, so I didn't get to meet any of my Allied chums. I dunno about everyone else, but I do this as a social activity as much as anything, and it was really disappointing not to see 2/3 of the people there in the evening. :(

Overall, definitely a positive experience, particularly phase 2 in the dunes where I was running all over the place like a madman, getting a lot of kills and not getting hit once! But, at the end of the day, it cost almost twice as much as a CiA 24-hour event, with about half the skirmishing time.

The thing that amazed me was the sheer size of the dunes area, in the aerial photos it seemed possible to have a continuous rolling battle from the beach landing, all the way back to the woods. But it must`ve been a good mile out to the beach from the edge of the woodlands and it would`ve been easy to get lost in amongst the ups and downs of the dunes, not to mention the axis getting lost trying to get to the beach from the woods

Someone commented just before the allied beach landing that it was a bit surreal as there were some dudes surfing out on the waves and a few members of joe public walking their dogs on the shoreline about 75 metres behind the landing craft :D

From what I remember the axis left flank collapsed on the beach, I was a bit surprised as I was tying a bandage on the chap next to me and copped two shots, one in my ear and another in my lip from a couple of brits who appeared on my left from behind a rise where the mg42 was placed.

I believe there was about a 100 players in total as opposed to the 200 planned and I was told that certain parts of the weekend were reorganised to adjust for the numbers, IMHO it would`ve probably been even more chaotic with 200 bods.

I enjoyed the beach landing and dunes sections as it was unusual for airsoft, the evening game in the dark was a bit odd as I couldn`t see my hand in front of my face for the last hour so wandering around was a bit iffy.

I hadn`t a clue what was going on during the Sunday morning, it felt more like an open day, I would`ve liked to have seen the allies leapfrogging from objective to objective all the way through the woods with the axis rolling backwards but maybe the numbers didn`t allow.

Just my twopenneth, but overall it was a good experience just living in the field for a couple of days. :D

personally i think the stopping and regrouping helped things along. otherwise we'd have just chased you up the dunes on the beach without you getting much of a chance to dig in again.

Plus it gave people the odd rest, chance to eat a fruit bar or something, and provide more of a challange(ie assaulting a force dug in on a dune rather than chasing a shot up force through the dunes).

It would have been nice for the camps to be closer but as a few germans noticed you could just walk over for a bevvie heh. the problem with that toilet/shower blocks position was that it could well have been enveloped by the germans in an assault on the rear gun, and having them charge through tents etc wouldnt have been to smart.

In answer to how the fort got retaken I can help you there, aparently it seems that either two things happened the Germans retreated because of our flanking movement towards there spawn or that the 88's took them out, all I know is all my squad got killed apart from aparently one, who took out an unsuspecting german coming to capture the wounded, on our flankig manouver from the road, ?

I think that was Del and i , we got a *lot* of your squad i think it was eight... before you got us

If we had remembered we had two bandages each we'd have got the rest of you but forgot (in fact all game i forgto you could use the bandage twice)...

In fact every time i got shot this weekend wearing a bandage i forgot i had a second and just walked of to regen, so i did that about ten times all weekend i reckon...

I personally feel that we *all* thin combined axis/allied evning social is the best idea but i also think ths woudl have been unfeasable in this game as at one point i beleive the idea was that the command tents would at times be 'in game' and attackable, bit daft if they were next to each other.

to be honest dont think when I got him it was in the face :) and didnt realise it was him until he got up to walk away. the garands got great range so couldnt see who I was shooting at most of the time due to the distance. all you krauts look the same from that distance :P

Don't recall running away and getting shot at any game, they've always been when I've been static and the "rump" shots are when I've already been hit, got up to regen and have been hit on the hind   well except when I had my long johns on at CR and I bent over to make a cuppa and some sly bugga pelted me  I'll work out who it was though, maybes not today, maybes not tomorrow but one day and for the rest ... hang on corny film quotes  I'll get the bugga back

oh and tom you're a complete pussy for not coming! there will be a nasty forfeit instore for you at F&O I think

*Shrug* No-one is more gutted than me at my non appearance, I think missing out was forfeit enough. I simply decided after 14 hours on the road I didn't have another 11hrs or so of travelling in me. I'm just glad that Mike managed to get down there as I'd have felt a shit if my miscalculations re petrol/time to travel meant he missed out.

there was another fire incident later that night but I'll let Mike tell that one

Please tell me my tent's ok...
